A traditional martial arts Gurukulam in Erode, keeping the ancient warrior arts of Tamil Nadu alive for the next generation.
Ruthrathi Martial Arts Foundation, also known as Veera Kalai Gurukulam, was founded by Aasan Rathi Priya to share the warrior arts she has dedicated her life to. What began as her personal journey through Meipadam, Karalakattai and Kalaripayattu has grown into a training centre where students of every age can learn the same disciplines.
We teach Meipadam, Karala Kattai, Silambam, Adimurai, weapons training, Mallar Kambam, Mallar Kayiru and traditional gymnastics, alongside Pranayama and meditation, so that strength of body is always matched by strength of mind.

To teach authentic Tamil martial arts with discipline and care, building strength, confidence and self-defence skills in every student, from five-year-olds to adults.
To grow into a full Gurukulam where students of all age groups can learn ancient martial arts, with a focus on long-term well-being and a life without ailments.
Safe, structured training with a belt system, certification, and opportunities to perform on stage and in competitions.
An ancient martial art seeking the perfect warrior form.
Based on the principles of Anga Shastra, Meipadam teaches that the human body should maintain genetically proportionate structure. Completing the Angalakshanas transforms the practitioner.
Bridging historical origins, neural science, and physical transformation.
These ancient forms have survived since the 4th-century Pallava Dynasty, a kingdom renowned for its valor and fitness.
Each movement in Meipadam is performed for exactly 108 counts. This precision activates and strengthens 108 specific nerves in the central nervous system.
The practice is designed to activate both the left and right sides of the brain simultaneously.
Based on the principles of Anga Shastra, training aims for a genetically proportional structure in height, chest, and bone.
There are 64 total Angalakshanas (warrior traits); completing just 8 of these transforms the practitioner’s physical appearance into that of a warrior.
Unlike other fitness forms, this neuro-muscular combination ensures oxygen and blood circulate evenly to every part of the body.
Training includes a specific set of warrior techniques: strikes, kicks, grappling, and evasive maneuvers.
Training emphasizes physical strength and agility through specialized body conditioning, flexibility drills, and weapon practice.
Mallar Kambam (pole) and Mallar Kayiru (rope) build grip, balance, core strength and fearless control of the body.
Through Siddhamuthra, students learn to balance the five elements within the human body. This process is designed to eradicate ailments caused by internal imbalances.
Training incorporates Kshathriya Pranayama, a specific warrior breathing technique used during Meipadam and Karalakattai to connect breath, body, and focus.
Practical Adimurai techniques, street self defence and emergency escape moves, with a dedicated ladies-only batch.
Every class at Ruthrathi builds more than technique.
